Medicare

What is Medicare?
Medicare is a health insurance program administered by the federal government for people 65 or older or people under 65 with certain disabilities or end-stage renal disease. Medicare does not cover all expenses and is not designed to pay for long-term custodial care. So it is important to understand the program. For patients meeting requirements, Medicare helps cover the costs for hospital stays, skilled nursing home stays up to 100 days and hospice care. The admission team members of SIR consulted facilities will be happy to provide you with current rates and coverage. For additional information, please visit cms.gov.

What does Medicare pay?
On day 1 through 20, Medicare pays 100% of the covered charges. A daily payment will apply on days 21-100. A daily payment, usually covered by co-insurance or supplemental policy will apply on days 21-100 in any nursing home.
